How Vinícius Júnior got 24 days away from Madrid

Vinicius’s suspension results in a 24-day absence from Madrid play, missing the next Champions League quarterfinal against Manchester City on April 9. This results from his fourth consecutive yellow card, coinciding with the international break and match scheduling. His suspension bars him from the next La Liga game.

The international break, to give players time to play for their countries, then halts club football for two weeks. Also, the Copa del Rey final further delays La Liga matches for teams not involved, including Real Madrid.

These factors combine to extend Vinicius’s absence from La Liga action to 24 days, calculated from the date of his last game before the suspension to his next eligible match.

Madrid, currently leading La Liga by eight points, will play Athletic Club at the Bernabeu on March 31, without Vinicius but with Jude Bellingham returning from suspension.
