Brazil defender Marquinhos has declared himself fit for Sunday’s Copa América Final against Peru after a virus forced him off during the semi-final victory over Argentina. The PSG man was replaced by João Miranda early in the second half after the player complained of nausea and vomiting. But he insists he has recovered now. “Health is important, especially for a player who uses the body to work. I ended up getting myself a virus, I spent the day of the game in the hotel, with diarrhoea and vomiting. “With the effort of the match, it ended up getting worse, I had to leave. I had a fever, I had to go to the infirmary of the stadium, I took medication but now I'm well.” Brazil beat finalists Peru 5-0 in the group stage, but Marquinhos believes that match will have no bearing on Sunday’s final in the Maracanã. “I think in football things pass quickly. We face Peru in one situation, today is another. We have to know that we have a big job ahead, the final is a one-off game. “It’s going to be a very difficult game, the last one is gone. You have to know how to get the good things out of that game and the bad ones too. “We had difficulty in the beginning, with them marking tightly and we made some possession errors, but when they conceded the goals, the game opened up a little.”
