Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has offered support to teammate Philippe Coutinho, who endured another difficult evening at the Nou Camp on Saturday.
Coutinho has struaggled since his £114m move from Liverpool last January and he was jeered by his own fans when he was replaced on 80 minutes in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Rayo Vallecano.
Barca stalwart Gerard Pique is sure Coutinho will turn things around at Barcelona, despite reports that the club are already looking to move the player on.
“Philippe is having a good season,” he told marca.com. “Obviously his cost was very high so that means there are more expectations of his performance level. It is what it is.
“We have to accept the reaction of the fans because they are our followers but from the inside, we have to give him our support. We need him at his best for the end of the season and I’m sure he will be.”
