Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk says that the calming presence of goalkeeper Alisson has been a huge help to the Reds defence this season.
The signings of van Dijk and Alisson have transformed the Reds’ defence over the last 12 months. Liverpool have only conceded 6 Premier League goals this season.
The Brazilian made a stunning stop to deny Milik in stoppage time of their 1-0 win over Napoli on Tuesday night, a result which saw them qualify for the knockout stage.
Dutch defender van Dijk was quick to talk up Alisson’s influence, telling liverpoolfc.com, "He’s been fantastic for Liverpool and for us.
"[He’s a] great character, a great guy and he helps us all. He gives confidence to everyone. That’s how it is and how it should be as well, for the whole team.
"That Ali needs to make the fantastic save is something that wasn’t really necessary if we’d scored all the goals – including myself. But like I said, we’re through."
