Chelsea defender David Luiz insists he is still available for international selection, despite spending much of the last three years in the wilderness for the Seleção.

Luiz has only been called up once by Tite since he took over in September 2016, but Luiz says he has not given up on representing Brazil again.

“I work in my club to return to the seleção, if it is the will of Professor Tite. I will always be at his disposal because I love my country," said the 31-year-old.

Luiz says it was the right call to renew Tite’s contract after the disappointment of exiting the World Cup in Russia at the quarter-final stage.

"Tite is doing a great job. In Brazil we are not used to giving time to coaches. Thank God they were able to do that with Tite after the World Cup.

“I am sure he is doing the best he can because he accumulates positive results over a long period. I hope Brazil will continue to grow and reach the next World Cup."
