Brazil legend Ronaldinho has officially retired from professional football, his brother and
agent Roberto Assis has confirmed.
In an interview with “Gente Boa”, Roberto Assis confirmed that his brother, who hasn’t
played professionally since August 2015, has now retired.
Roberto insists he and his brother are looking to set up a series of farewell matches after this
summer’s World Cup.
Ronaldinho won the World Cup with Brazil, the Champions League with Barcelona and the
Copa Libertadores with Atlético Mineiro in a glittering career. He twice won the Ballon D’Or.
“He has stopped, finished,” Roberto said of his brother and client’s professional football
career. “We will do something pretty big after the Russia World Cup, probably in August.
“We will do various events in Brazil, Europe and Asia. And, of course, we are arranging a
game with the Brazilian national team.
“Nike will collaborate on this project. I still have no details, so far we are setting up a
schedule. The fact that he has been Barcelona’s ambassador for ten years makes it a lot
easier out there. He is wanted there and here in Brazil.”
