Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino says he is happy to be the team’s “engine” and that he
loves playing for the club and under current boss Jurgen Klopp.
The Brazilian is enjoying his best ever goalscoring season, with 17 strikes to date, including
an excellent finish in the 4-3 win over Manchester City on Sunday.
Firmino has earned commendation as an energetic, pressing forward in the Reds’ revered
front three- it is a reputation he is happy to cultivate further.
“I’m never satisfied. I always want to do better and the feeling that I’m never satisfied is my
way of motivating myself to be the best I can be,” he explained.
“I give absolutely everything for Liverpool, I play with all of my heart. I’ve learned a huge
amount with Klopp, it’s a real honour to be with him. We have an excellent relationship.
“I like to drop back and help defend because that then turns into attack, turns into goals, so I
don’t mind being called the ‘engine’ of the team.”
