The permanence of playmaker Lucas Lima at Santos looks increasingly likely.
Santos hold just 10% of Lucas Lima’s economic rights, and president Modesto Roma has said on several occasions that it is not financially advantageous for the club to sell the player, unless a team trigger his €50 million release clause. As hardly any club would accept to pay that amount, Lucas’ entourage knows that the 25-year-old may have to stay at the club until the end of his contract. According to agent Wagner Ribeiro, Lucas Lima is unlikely to leave Santos in the upcoming transfer window, and should be released in 2017 when his bond comes to an end.
Wagner Ribeiro was quoted in Lance!: “Santos have no interest in selling him because they own just 10% of his rights. If they receive an offer of €20 million, they would get just €2 million. With that, you can’t even purchase a leg of Lucas Lima. The tendency is that he will stay until the end of the contract.”
