The Brazilian national team are gathering arguments to convince Barcelona to release striker Neymar for Copa América Centenário and the Olympic Games.
The player would be a certain presence in Dunga’s squad for the Copa América Centenário and the Olympics, but Barcelona do not intend to release him for the South American tournament that will be held in the United States this June. According to Brazil’s team coordinator Gilmar Rinaldi, the staff of the national team talked to the technical committee of Barcelona to present data that releasing Neymar will not harm the player’s vacation. Gilmar says that Barcelona wants Neymar to have an adequate period of rest to start the pre-season, and the club thinks this wouldn’t be possible if he plays the Copa América. Gilmar said: “They are worried about the holidays, and thinks the player has to take rest, but we also found that the players who will participate in the European Championship will have less vacation than those who participate in the Copa América and Olympics. Those who participate in the European Championship comes with just 15 days rest.”
