Friday was unforgettable for Rodrigo Dourado, as the midfielder was called up to Brazil’s Olympic national team that will play friendly games with Nigeria, on March 24 in Cariacica, and South Africa, in Maceió on the 27th.
For the 21-year-old, the recognition was result of his good work at Internacional, and now he hopes to show his talent to be on the list that will compete in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Dourado established himself in the team’s starting line-up under Diego Aguirre last year, and has been able to maintain his level with new coach Argel Fucks. Dourado told Internacional’s website: “I think it was deserved. I’ve been working for some time to reach that level. The expectation is good. I know these are friendlies, but it’s a trial for the Olympic Games, which is the main goal for this year. I am ready and prepared to get out there and show my game. This call up gives even more confidence for my work here at Inter. I am really grateful to Inter and my teammates.”
