Cruzeiro’s Brazilian defender Dedé underwent tests on Tuesday and it confirmed a fracture in the patella of his right knee.
According to club doctor Sérgio Freire Júnior, there is no need for surgery, and treatment should be done with immobilization until complete healing of the affected area. Sergio Freire also said that the fracture wouldn’t affect the surgery performed in the posterior cruciate ligament in the same knee last year.
The doctor says that the player had complained of pain in the region during and after the match last weekend against America-MG, at the Estádio Mineirão. On Sunday, Cruzeiro drew 1-1 in the fifth round of the Campeonato Mineiro fixture. As usual, Cruzeiro’s medical department doesn’t set a recovery period of their players. In early 2015, Dedé underwent surgery on his right knee and only returned to play an official game this season.
