Santos made an enquiry to São Paulo last week to see if the rival club would accept to release left-back/winger Michel Bastos.
According to the information from Globo Esporte, São Paulo immediately responded against the idea, but Santos haven’t completely given up on their pursuit because coach Dorival Júnior is encouraged by the possibility of having the player. São Paulo considers Michel Bastos as an important member of their squad, and have no intentions to release him. If Santos can reverse São Paulo’s decision, the desire of the club’s board is to have the player in the Brazilian Championship, as there wouldn’t be enough time for him to be registered for the Paulistão. Michel Bastos, who has a contract until December 2017, played eight times this season, scoring two goals and was team captain in the opening matches.
