More and more players of the Seleção are heading to Asia, and now Brazil coach Dunga would have to more closely monitor the competitions in the continent to assess the Brazilians.
And who seeks to be remembered is the attacking midfielder Éverton Ribeiro, currently playing for Al-Ahli in the United Arab Emirates. Highlight of the Asian team in the national championship and in the AFC Champions League, the former Cruzeiro man talked to Globo Esporte about his decision to go to UAE. Éverton, who was the best player of the Brasileirão in 2013 and 2014, was also remembered by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) as one of the top three players on the continent last season. He said: “Football here (Emirates and Asia) is improving. Tactically it"s hard, they leave little space. Each team must have eight local players and those who have financial ability stands out. We played against a Chinese team in the AFC Champions League. And Ricardo Goulart [plays for Guangzhou Evergrande] told me that the president wants me there. But I was not aware of anything. And these things, when they arrive, go straight to the club and my agent."
He added: “Why I came to Asia? I see it as a good choice. It is a market that is growing, and so they want players who stand out. Here in Asia, they like a lot of Brazilian players. We know that CBF have trained professionals who watch football around the world. They always said to continue working at a high level, and that"s what I try to do. Our team is second in the national league, fighting for the title."
