In addition to Diego Souza, Richarlison, Henrique and Felipe Amorim, Fluminense are still awaiting the arrival of another forward.
The club’s priority is Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Wellington Nem. According to UOL Esporte, they are set to make a final attempt to sign him during the pre-season in the United States where they’ll take part in the Florida Cup, a tournament which also includes the Ukrainians. Of course the fact that Fluminense and Shakhtar are in the same country doesn’t have great influence in the negotiations, but it can speed up the conversations. The Brazilian side know that if they cannot close the deal during pre-season, it will be difficult to count on Wellington Nem for the 2016 season. The 23-year-old played a key role for Fluminense in 2012 when they lifted the Brazilian Championship.
Negotiations started at the end of 2015 when Fluminense presented an official proposal which was considered low by Shakhtar. They made a counterproposal, but the value was higher than what Fluminense could afford, and the Carioca team are now negotiating a reduction to reach an agreement which is still far at this moment. Fluminense had previously tried to bring back Nem in 2014, but he has suffered from the insistence of the Ukrainian club that spent €9 million to sign him.
