Lugano was vetoed by Colombian coach Juan Carlos Osorio in the middle of the season when he was in charge, but Tricolor are considering the Libertadores and 2005 Club World Cup winner with goalkeeper Rogério Ceni set to retire at the end of the year. In Lugano’ contract at Cerro, there’s a clause that frees São Paulo if the club make an offer. After the Libertadores this year, tne idea of signing Lugano was vetoed by Osório who preferred to have a left-footed defender, and bought Luiz Eduardo. As mentioned in Globo Esporte, Lugano’s signing is planned for the 2016 season even without the guarantee of Doriva staying. Doriva started with three losses, one draw and one win in five games, and he’s in the race to make his team qualify for next year’s Libertadores.
