Brazilian legend Romário had recently criticized PSG defender Thiago Silva who captained the national side during last year’s FIFA World Cup.
In an interview with French newspaper L’Équipe, Romário said the defender does not have enough personality to wear the shirt of Brazil and questioned his psychological strength. On Tuesday, Thiago Silva was asked about the criticism from Romário but he preferred not to extend the controversy. He said: “I do not think about it. It’s a bit hard to read stuff like that, especially coming from a guy like Romário, with the history he has. I think about the team, not this. It’s hard to talk about some situations like this of Romário. We have to respect his opinion.”
PSG takes on Real Madrid on Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League, and the captain believes his team is on a higher level to last season. He added: “This year we are stronger than last year. We are playing much better. We started the season so much better. I believe we are stronger. With the ball we are dangerous; the problem is without the ball. We are working on it, with the coach to improve this.”
