Barcelona suffered their first defeat of the season as they were comprehensively beaten 4-1 at Celta Vigo.

The champions went into the game with a 100% record in the league but were 2-0 down at half time due to goals from Agudo Durán and Iago Aspas. Aspas then made in 3-0 in the second half after outsprinting Dani Alves before Barcelona were given some hope with a Neymar strike ten minutes from time.
Neymar latched onto a chipped ball over the top by Lionel Messi before sliding home for his third of the season. Most of the crowd were then expecting a Barcelona onslaught but it was instead Celta Vigo who got the fifth goal of the game with substitute John Guidetti firing home.
Celta Vigo now leapfrog Barcelona in the table and are level on points with league leaders Real Madrid. Real capitalised on Barcelona’s defeat with a 2-1 victory at home to Athletic Bilbao. Karim Benzema scored both the home sides goals while Brazilian Marcelo played the full ninety minutes at left back. There is now only one point separating the top five teams in La Liga.
