Atlético Mineiro captain, Leonardo Silva, is set to make his 200th appearance for the club when he takes to the field against Vasco Da Gama at the Estádio Independencia on Sunday.

And with 20 goals, at the very respectable rate of a goal every ten games, the centre-back has just two to go to match the record goals-haul by a defender in the club’s history, an honour currently held by former teammate Réver.

Leo Silva said: “It’s been a long journey, very hard and difficult. Because of this I’m very happy about it, it is not easy. I feel honoured to wear the shirt of Atlético. I hope to reach other more significant milestones and to repay all with titles and qualifications. The important thing is to overcome, to be able to reach these great achievements.
