Botafogo President Maurício Assumpção has confirmed that Bolívar, Edílson, Emerson and Júlio César have been released.
The quarter have been accused of protesting against the board and Assumpção has taken action to remove them from the club.
“All of them were contacted personally on Thursday,” he said, as reported by GOAL.com. “The only one who was not was Emerson. All agents were also contacted.”
Botafogo are currently 17th in the Brasileirão and are reported to be struggling financially.
