Former Leeds United midfielder Peter Lorimer believes Brazilian Adryan hasn’t been given a proper run in the team because of the form of the Elland Road club.

The youngster moved to the Championship outfit in the summer and has impressed during his run outs for the under-21 side.

Many fans have been perplexed by his failure to feature for the Leeds first team and Lorimer believes he knows why that is.

The retired footballer wrote in the Yorkshire Evening Post with HITC Sport quoting Lorimer, he said: “Football in Brazil has an established philosophy and a certain reputation but there’s a danger in assuming that any Brazilian youngster is going to be dynamite.

“Adryan might be exactly that – It probably didn’t help him that he joined Leeds in a period when the team were putting together a pretty decent run of results.”

Lorimer believes previous Leeds boss Neil Redfearn should have turned to Adryan when the team were struggling.

He added: “You don’t break up a winning side for the sake of forcing someone into it and if we’d struggled against Bournemouth or Huddersfield then it wouldn’t have surprised me if Neil Redfearn had turned to Adryan.”

New Leeds boss Darko Milanic is expected to start the Brazilian against Sheffield United today.
