Palmeiras have announced the signing of a fourth Argentine under head coach Ricardo Gareca, as striker Jonathan Cristaldo was unveiled by the Sao Paulo-based team yesterday.

Cristaldo arrives at the eight-time Brazilian domestic champions from Metalist Kharkiv of Ukraine, bringing an end to a three year stay for the player in an area of the world that is now so unflatteringly famous.

He told the club’s website: “I am delighted, very happy to be here at such a great club. The truth is that it is a very important step for me in my career, coming to the team with the most Brazilian championships.”

“It is an honour and I hope to meet all of the objectives and give joy to the fans in this centennial year.”

Cristaldo will link up at Palmeiras with fellow Argentinians Fernando Tobio, Pablo Mouche and Agustin Allione.
