Atletico Mineiro head coach Levir Culpi has revealed that striker Jo is back in contention for this weekends game with Palmeiras, after the player was dropped for allegedly missing training last week.

“He came to me and talked to clarify things. Jo is very friendly and he’s easy to treat. It’s hard to quarrel with him. It was a particularly striking situation for him; hopefully it will be a lesson.”

“He had a very serious personal problem. Prior to punishing a person, we have to think that we are human beings. He is with us again and will follow the boat (sic).”

Culpi’s men go into Sundays match in ninth place in the Brasileirao, seeking a second league win since the end of May; their opponents Palmeiras are in something of a nightmare form-wise, having failed to register a win in seven league matches.
