Corinthians midfielder Petros has expressed his delight at scoring a first goal from the club in last night’s 2-0 victory over Palmeiras at the Arena Corinthians, a result which takes his side into second in the Brasileirao.

Petros, who joined the Corinthians earlier in the year and has played 11 times for them, was the beneficiary of some luck as his angled shot rebounded back off the Palmeiras goalkeeper in injury time to seal the three points.

He said after the game: “I had dreamed about that goal. Playing here at the Arena, and with the support of the crowd too, I will never forget that moment.”

“I’m very happy. I hope to continue contributing. Our group has great quality- this is important because you have to use all of the squad at some point.”

This is Petros’ first spell in Serie A after playing in the division below for Boa Esporte and Penapolense.
