Brazil defender Dani Alves has admitted the defeat to Germany is like a nightmare and conceded he has never seen a six minute spell of football like it.

Germany scored four goals in six minutes during the first half and went on to thrash the host nation 7-1 in the World Cup semi-final.

The Barcelona ace spoke to AS after the game about the devastating defeat, which he remained on the bench throughout.

Football Espana quoted Alves, he said: “It was like the nightmares that sometimes happen in football.

“In not a single game of football has this happened to me. We were against a very good team, complete in all areas.

“We lost the game in six minutes. In the 31 years of my life I have never seen a six minutes as unexplained as ours.”

Alves was questioned on whether Luiz Felipe Scolari should continue as Brazil head coach but chose to instead say how proud he was of the current squad.

The 31-year-old believes they all need to share responsibility for this defeat, adding: “It’s not our decision (if Scolari continues or not). We share responsibilities. We are part of a group and everyone has some responsibility.

“Decisions are made by others, but I am proud to have been part of this great team, but in a game like this you really get hurt.”
