Argentina superstar Lionel Messi has sent a very short but definite message to some of his club teammates in the wake of Brazil’s 3-1 win against Croatia in the opening game of the 2014 World Cup.

The Barcelona attacker, who counts Daniel Alves and Neymar as his two colleagues at club level, sent a picture of himself watching the game with his feet up, accompanied with the words: “The World Cup has started. I’m impatient to get on the field.”

“Good luck to my fellow Barcelona (sic), but try to avoid us.”

A Brazil versus Argentina final is a possibility hot on many pundits’ lips, but the latter must wait until Sunday to get their campaign underway; the South American two-time winners play Bosnia at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro at 2300GMT.
