Brazil midfielder Oscar was released from the national team’s preparations for the impending World Cup to celebrate the birth of his first child and is expected to return to the fold ahead of Friday’s final friendly against Serbia at the Morumbi in Sao Paulo.

The 22 year-old Chelsea playmaker was granted special dispensation from Brazil’s coaching staff for the occasion and said to his fans on Instagram about the arrival of baby Julia: “Being a parent is an amazing feeling.”

“I’m very glad she’s coming this time. It’s a special moment for me, playing in my first World Cup. I hope it brings lots of luck and motivation.”

Oscar will be expected to start the Serbia game as boss Luiz Felipe Scolari finalises his plans for the World Cup, with the opener happening a week today against Croatia in Sao Paulo.
