Fernandinho insists the Manchester City squad are remaining calm despite them just needing a point from the final match of the season against West Ham to claim the Premier League title.

Liverpool, Chelsea and City have all been battling against each other to earn the title but events fell perfectly for the Manchester club over the last couple of weeks to give them a fantastic opportunity on Sunday.

The Brazilian discussed the changing dynamic at the top of the league and revealed the players attitude will be fine against the Hammers.

The 29-year-old told The National: “A lot has been changing at the top of the table over the last few weeks.

“A lot of results have been good for us, but bad for the other two. This (game against Aston Villa) was our first chance to go to the top of the table.

“The whole squad is calm. Every training session is about doing what we do and keeping calm.”

Although the final 4-0 scoreline against Villa on Wednesday night suggested it had been a comfortable evening for City, it wasn’t exactly the case.

Before Edin Džeko scored in the 64th minute tension was building around the Etihad but after that the Manchester side steamrolled their way to victory.

Fernandinho is now hopeful they’ll lift the title on Sunday, he added: “Maybe there was a few nerves in the first half against Aston Villa, but in the second half we changed slightly the way we play, and scored four goals.

“That’s great for us. In the next couple of days we’ll be just the same: we’ll keep calm and hope that we play a very good game on Sunday.”
