The hopes of a nation will rest on his shoulders during the World Cup, therefore it comes as no surprise that Barcelona and Brazil forward Neymar admits he has butterflies in his stomach when he thinks about this summer.

The 22-year-old is one of Seleção’s truly world class performers and if they are to win their home World Cup, the Barcelona man will need to have the tournament of his life.

In an exclusive interview with Lancenet, Neymar has revealed that he will be achieving his childhood dream this summer.

He said: “I think it is an honour to wear the Brazil shirt in my country and to see my greatest childhood dream come true, but the nerves are starting to appear and I’ve butterflies in my stomach.

“We are going to give our all out there to give Brazil the title.”

Neymar appreciates that every team will be trying to beat Brazil but has no preference who the Seleção face.

And predictably reaching the final would be a dream come true for the former Santos man.

“Your opponents always want to win and will give everything against Brazil,” said Neymar.

“We have no preference regarding who we play as we know every match will be difficult.

“To get to the final will be a dream.”
