When Radamel Falcao damaged his cruciate knee ligaments in January it appeared his hopes of appearing in the World Cup were over, however the Monaco forward believes he could recover in time after all.

The Colombian told Monaco’s official TV station that his progress is going well, Sky Sports reported the South American superstars comments.

Falcao said: “I am feeling well and the progress of my knee has been spectacular, I work a bit more each day, my recovery is progressing in a positive way.

“I hope to recover well and be in the World Cup, although I am focused mostly on my job and this current moment.”

Optimism from the Colombian although not blind sighted faith that he will definitely be able to play in Brazil.

The fans of Brazil will hope that a player of Falcao’s quality is able to recover in time to feature in the tournament.

An illustrious list of players have already been ruled out of the World Cup through various injuries but it would be a welcome positive if Falcao could come back in time for the summer spectacle.
