Brazil striker Fred hasn’t started 2014 in the best of form but that hasn’t stopped him from wishing his fellow Fluminense forwards good luck should his troubles in front of goal continue.

The Brazilian has only scored twice this season where as winter signing Walter has already found the net five times and it has provoked some interesting but kind comments from 30-year-old.

He spoke to Lancenet.com about fellow forwards Walter and Rafael Sóbis, he said: “If I finished the season with 40 goals and Walter with 50 I would be well happy.

“I suppose if I had finished with ten it would bother me. I do not care if Walter or Sóbis scored 40. I want more but when they score it will help Fluminense.”

On Sunday Fluminense host Vasco da Gama in a vital State Championship match, Fred is confident however that he will find the net and enjoy good luck from this point forward.

He said: “Forward’s live off goals. I know that with every effort, my dedication that began months ago, the good time will come and it will start on Sunday.

“I am very confident for this game. I’m sure good things will happen.”
