Rafael put in a marvelous display for Manchester United this afternoon as the Red Devils coasted past West Bromwich Albion 3-0 in the Premier League.

The Brazilian full back was back to his best at the Hawthorns and he assisted the crucial second goal for England striker Wayne Rooney.

Rafael whipped a wonderful delivery across the box for Rooney to head in at the back post but it wasn’t just the Brazil defenders attacking intent which impressed. He was excellent defensively as well and made seven tackles, one interception and eight effective clearances before being replaced in the 87th minute with the points secured.

As mentioned the 23-year-old hasn’t enjoyed the best of seasons under new Man United manager David Moyes and has only played 14 times in the Premier League prior to today’s match. Last season the Brazilian made 28 appearances, whilst he scored three times and picked up three assists.

Rafael will now hope that his first league assist of the season can prove to Moyes alongside his excellent defensive display that he is worthy of a regular starting position at right-back.

United host Liverpool next weekend and Rafael will be keen to start having scored against them last season.
