Brazil’s Group A opponents Mexico laboured to a goalless draw against African champions Nigeria in their latest World Cup warm-up game. A far from boring affair, Mexico did little to back up head coach Miguel Herrera’s claims that they are genuine contenders for this summer’s event, albeit against a strong Nigeria side who have experience of playing in Brazil recently.

Rustiness from Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez- understandable due to his lack of playing time recently- as well as some exceptional goalkeeping from Nigeria’s Vincent Enyeama, kept the scoresheet blank but after Brazil’s demolition jobon fellow Africans South Africa, Luiz Felipe Scolari will have little to fear on this evidence.

The two sides meet on June 17 in Fortaleza.
