Lazio head coach Edy Reja has backed Felipe Anderson to rediscover the form which made him a highly sought-after player during his early career with Santos.

Reja admitted when talking at a press conference before his team’s Europa League tie against Bulgarian outfit Ludogorets that Anderson was lacking confidence.

Football Italia reported the 68-year-old’s comments, Reja said: “He is lacking a bit of confidence.

“But during the week he shows the qualities he has.

“Now he has to take advantage of the chances he gets in matches.”

It is widely predicted that Anderson will play in Lazio’s Europa League match tomorrow. He has largely been restriced to cup appearances this season and will be trying his best to impress on this occasion.

Reja spoke about the 20-year-old maybe being fearful of making mistakes but the Biancazzurri head coach called for Anderson to just play the game with his personality.

“If he plays tomorrow we will also see his personality,” Reja added.

“He maybe has a little bit of fear about making mistakes but he musn’t think about this because he has all the trust of his teammates and coaching staff.”
