Brazilian defender Rafinha has thanked his club coach at Bayern Munich, Pep Guardiola, for helping to reconstruct his ailing career to the point that the 28 year-old is now a mainstay at domestic level and also has a genuinely excellent chance of playing at a World Cup on home soil.

Guardiola’s moving of club and German national captain Phillip Lahm to a defensive midfield role has opened the door for right back Lahm to feature prominently there and in doing so catch the eye of Brazil manager Luiz Felipe Scolari.

“He (Guardiola) has given me self-confidence again and made me play,” Rafinha told German newspaper TZ, “I want to go to Brazil, but first i concentrate fully on the tasks with Bayern.”

“My feet remain on the ground. If I do a good job here, the rest comes by itself.”
