Having suffered the humiliation of a 5-1 reverse against Santos in the Paulista state championship, Corinthians coach Mano Menezes has vowed that his side will recover to rekindle the defensive skills on which their preious successes were founded.

The 5-1 rout was Corinthians’ secong defeat in four state games so far this season and the tight defence they were once famed for under ex-manager Tite looks increasingly leaky.

“It is now working to find the right point of what we need. and take the correct action,” Menezes told lancenet.com: “The idea is to try to recover the players because they were left devastated after a game like this.”

“We have to start working right away on finding solutions.”

Corinthians have struggled to replicate the halcyon period of 2011 ans 2012, whereby the club won the Campeonato Brasileiro, Copa Libertadores and even the World Club Cup under Tite.
