Chelsea striker Lucas Piazon has spoken of his admiration for a former coach, although it would it’s perhaps not the man that most would expect to be named by the on-loan Vitesse player.

Brazilian Piazon arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2011 after completing his youth football at hometown club Sao Paulo, and has made three appearances to date for Chelsea, as well as having a loan spell at Spanish side Malaga.

In his fledgling career to date, he has played under Jose Mourinho, Rafa Benitez and Mauricio Pellegrini- as well as rubbing shoulders with the likes of Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard and Isco- but it is former boss Roberto Di Matteo for whom Piazon reserved the most praise.

Speaking with lancenet.com, he said: “The more I worked, the more Roberto Di Matteo liked me. The players liked him.”

Piazon also spoke of Benitez’s “boring” training regimes and the fact that he’s not had much time with current boss Mourinho to assess how his schedules work.
