Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva is set to be out for two months after suffering knee ligament damage.

The 27 year-old had to be replaced in the second half of Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday, after a collision with Fabian Delph.

Subsequent scans revealed the extend of the damage, with Lucas, who has made 19 appearances this season, not expected to be back until March at the earliest.

The Brazilian’s absence leaves manager Brendan Rodgers short on personnel, as his team push for a top four finish.
