ESPN Brasil have revealed images of a document containing the proposal as the CBF becomes increasingly worried about the situation in the year of the World Cup.

According to ESPN Brasil, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) offered Portuguesa R$4m (£1m) to accept the decision to play in Série B of the Brazilian Championship in 2014. The broadcaster has revealed images of the CBF document containing the proposal.

Portuguese celebrated finishing in 12th positing in last season’s championship, only to be relegated following a points deduction for fielding a suspended player. As a consequence of their relegation, Fluminense survived and will again compete in the top division next year.

Following the decision of the High Court of Sporting Justice (STJD), fans have begun taking action in the country’s common courts.

The situation is a big worry for the CBF in the year of the World Cup, as FIFA does not permit that sporting cases be resolved in common courts.

According to ESPN Brasil, Portuguesa is inclined to refuse the offer and continue its fight to stay in the top flight.
