The Brazilian midfielder Elias is no closer to announcing where he will be next playing his football as Flamengo, where he has been on loan, still haven’t managed to come to an agreement with his parent club, Sporting Lisbon of Portugal.

According to globoesporte.com, the 28 year-old has been the subject of two failed proposals already, and the vultures are circling; Chinese team Shandong, who employ striker Vagner Love, have apperently offered double what the Rio de Janeiro side are willing to pay to either buy Elias outright of take him on loan.

Elias, who has seen his career stall somewhat since leaving Corinthians to join Atletico Madrid in January 2010, is seeking a fourth move in three years- a disappointing situation for a man that has amassed ten caps for Brazil and was thought to be in with a good shout of making this year’s World Cup.

If Flamengo can manage to secure Elias, perhaps by persuading him to move home rather than another new start in China or elsewhere, it would continue their extensive recruitment drive ahead of the start of the 2014 Campeonato Brasileiro.
