It would appear that one-time Brazil striker Adriano is edging closer to a return to playing, reports globoesporte.com.

The 31 year-old, who at one time was one of the world’s most feared attackers, has been training and assisiting within coaching duties at Atletico Paranaense since the end of last year.

Despite having no official comtract with the Curitiba outfit, Adriano is now in full training and has been pencilled in to help the club with their Copa Libertadores campaign, which begins at the end of January.

Paranaense finished third in the Campeonato Brasileiro last year and therefore take one of Brazil’s five league berths (alongside defending champions Atletico Mineiro).

Adriano has returned from a festive break in Rio de Janeiro and will be aiming to show glimpses of the ability that saw him win four consecutive Serie A titles with Inter Milan before starring as Flamengo won the 2009 Brazilian championship- a league whereby he was voted the best player. He then spent two largely unproductive years at Roma in Italy and then with Corinthians.
