Schalke"s Felipe Santana has revealed his intentions to apply for a German passport and become a naturalised citizen in a ‘few years time".

Santana recently transferred to Schalke from rivals Borussia Dortmund and says he loves life in the Bundesliga so much he wants to achieve citizenship.

“I had inquiries from abroad but I wanted to stay in the Bundesliga," Santana told Bild. “I feel very well in Germany and now speak the language. I also want to apply for a German passport in a few years."

“It was very difficult [leaving Dortmund]. I had five great years at Borussia Dortmund and wish them only the best. I"ll never forget the time there."

“A piece of BVB will always remain in my heart. I can only say, thank you for everything."
