Former Liverpool full-back Fabio Aurelio is to make another attempt at his Grêmio debut this Sunday, a full 333 days since his last competitive appearance.

His Grêmio side take on minnows Passo Fundo in the Vermelhão da Serra on Sunday as part of the Gaúcho state championship. It is expected that he will take part in at least some of the encounter.

Shortly after joining the club last June, the injury-prone left-back suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage in his right knee, from which he is yet to return.

A popular figure with fans at his former Anfield home, Aurelio has been working with physiotherapist Nilton Petrone to solve his injury issues.

Petrone was the man famed for treating Ronaldo ahead of the 2002 World Cup, in which he returned to such great success.

Aurelio’s last outing came in the Premier League when he appeared for Liverpool against Fulham on May 1, 2012 in front of the Reds’ home support.
