Barcelona are closing in on a deal with Santos to take Neymar to the Camp Nou in 2014, according to the latest reports from Spain.
El Mundo Deportivo claim that Barcelona director Raul Sanllehi is in direct talks with Neymar’s father and agent and is close to striking a deal.
The publication also claims Sanllehi travelled to Geneva to meet Neymar while the Seleção played Italy to discuss details of the transfer.
The paper also reports that Barcelona are wary of the advances of Manchester City and former Barcelona supremo Txiki Begiristain.
Begiristain is also reportedly in contact with Neymar’s father, reports suggesting that a Manchester City contingent met with representatives of the player during the Seleção’s friendly defeat to England.
However, Neymar himself has consistently denied reports of any deal being agreed with any club and insists he will stay at Santos until 2014 when his contract expires.
