Arsenal owned full-back Andre Santos has told Brazilian media that he would like to make his loan deal with Grêmio permanent this summer, having settled well at the Gaúcho club.

Andre Santos, 30, had previously insisted that he still hoped to prove himself at Arsenal once his loan spell reached completion, but appears to have had a change of heart.

Now playing regularly in the Copa Libertadores for his new side, the Brazil international would like to remain at the club long-term.

Speaking to Zero Hora, Santos said: “I’ll do my best to win titles. I have won titles at every club I have played for.

“The staff, board and the players have all made me feel very welcome. There is no doubt that I want to stay.”

Heavily criticised in his time in England, Andre Santos won 22 caps for Mano Menezes’ Brazil side between 2009 and 2011, the last of which coming at the 2011 Copa America.
