Former Brazil goalkeeper Taffarel says Barcelona’s Victor Valdes should consider a move to Brazil when he departs the club at the end of next season.

The 31-year-old revealed his intention to leave Camp Nou upon the expiration of his contract in 2014, as he has a desire to experience football in a different country.

Ever since that announcement in January there has been continuous speculation as to where Valdes will ply his trade next and Taffarel has offered his thoughts and advised the Spaniard on a switch to his homeland.

He told La Xarxa: “Why shouldn’t Valdes go to Brazil? They now pay well.

“In Brazil they are attracting returning players. Valdes is a great goalkeeper and could play for any of the big teams in Brazil.”

Valdes has spent his entire career with the Blaugrana after coming through the club’s famous La Masia youth system and made his debut back in 2002.
