Fluminense midfielder Wellington Silva has suffered a suspected fractured foot according to coach Abel Braga.

The Brazilian was forced to limp off the pitch at the end of Fluminense’s 3-2 loss to Vasco in the Campeonato Carioca after complaining of numbness in the affected foot.

The player was taken to hospital for scans and Braga told reporters at the press conference that the injury was not as bad as first thought.

“He took a knock and spoke to us after a goal, telling us that he wasn’t feeling anything in his foot.

“Doctors said it was a blow that affected his entire foot, but they say it didn’t break,” said the coach.

Fluminense are expected to find out the results of Silva’s scan on Sunday.
