Sevilla midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia is believef to have accused Atlético Madrid’s Brazilian attacking midfielder Diego Costa of racism after receiving a four-match ban for a stamp in Wednesday night’s Copa del Rey clash.

Kondogbia, who seemingly made the allegations on social media website Twitter, has accused his opponent of making monkey noises in the encounter. Costa was later the target of his indiscretion.

The account from which the words were posted is believed to belong to the player and indicated at the Brazilian’s involvement in the misbehaviour.

The account posted: “In short Mr Costa, next time keep the monkey noises to yourself,” before adding: “The first red of my entire life playing football and I get four matches 🙁 ?”

Costa was involved in the late dismissal of two Sevilla players after also being kicked by Chilean Gary Medel, who receives a three-match Copa del Rey ban.

Kondogbia’s punishment, which is being appealed by his club, covers all competitions.
