Fábio da Silva has admitted that he almost celebrated when his brother Rafael scored for Manchester United against his loan club Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

The 22-year-old left Old Trafford on a season long loan in September and subsequently missed his parent club’s 2-0 win at Loftus Road due to an agreement in the deal.

Fábio has revealed he was delighted when identical twin brother Rafael fired a superb 25-yard volley past Júlio César in the QPR net.

He told Globo: “I was pleased to see my brother score a goal like that. Naturally I wanted to celebrate. But I was sat next to the QPR president.

“I told him afterwards: ‘You never score goals like that! You had to do it against my team!’ But I was happy for him."

The former Fluminense duo, who signed for United in 2008 after being spotted by Sir Alex Ferguson"s scouts, both agreed that Fábio"s loan has been good for them.

Fábio said: “I"ve grown a lot this season. We"ve both matured. He"s flying [for Manchester United] and I"m playing more. The change has been good for us."

Rafael added: “Fábio moving to London was the first time we were really separated. We never spent a year apart. But we"re coping."
