Manchester United defender Rafael da Silva was left celebrating on Saturday evening after scoring his  “best ever goal” in a 2-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers.

With the scores level in the first-half, the right-back capitalised on a loose ball 25-yards from goal to fire a rocket volley past the helpless Julio Cesar in the QPR net.

Having scored memorable strikes against Liverpool and Arsenal in the past, it takes something special to be ranked as the full-back’s best goal. Rafael, though, does not believe he has scored a better strike.

“I can’t remember scoring a better goal,” he told the club’s in-house TV channel, MUTV. “The one at Liverpool was different because it was a curling shot, but I can’t remember a better one than this. I think it’s my best.

“I just saw the ball coming towards me and hit it as hard as I could. You can feel by the way you hit the ball that it’s going in. I just hoped it wouldn’t deflect off anyone. It was a good goal.”
