Shakhtar Donetsk’s latest recruit Ismaily has revealed he is “astonished and amazed” with how good the Ukrainian club is.
The Brazilian defender signed a five year contract with Shakhtar this week, following a €4.5 million transfer from Portuguese side SC Braga.
Ismaily has revealed he heard a lot about Shakhtar and its Brazilian players prior to the move, but is astonished with how good the club actually is.
He said: “I heard a lot about Shakhtar in Brazil.
“They are regarded as an up-and-coming club. I also knew they had a lot of Brazilian players, but when I arrived here I was astonished and amazed by what I saw. This is a fantastic club.”
Ismaily has joined fellow natives Fernandinho, Luiz Adriano, Douglas Costa, Taison, Alex Texeira, Alan Patrick and Bruno at the club.
The 23-year-old is known as a left-back with a powerful shot but admits he also likes to get forward and help in the final third of the pitch.
Ismaily added: “Normally I am a defender, but I like to go forward too.
“I love to take part in my team’s attacks. I have already adapted well to European football so believe I will be able to hit my stride at Shakhtar pretty quickly.”
